Q1: What is PETKIT Smart Drinking Fountain?

A1: PETKIT Smart Drinking Fountain is a smart water dispenser. It features a triple filtration system that ensures  every drop of water your pet drinks is fresh and clean. The warm and silent design allows the pet to drink clean water without being bothered by the noise. The separation of the inner and outer buckets makes cleaning and refilling more convenient. Warm cartridge replacement reminder and water shortage reminder makes the owner worry-free. Powerful anti-dry burn system, no need to worry about damage to the appliance due to water shortage even when out and about. automatically adjusts the water dispensing frequency which ensures that pets have enough water while saving energy and protecting the environment.

Q2: Is the Smart Drinking Fountain good for pets?

A2: Pets with shoulder height of 15cm or more can use this device normally. There is no problem with small dogs and cats as they grow up quickly. Pets drinking water with slightly raised head is healthier.

Q3: How to switch from Normal Mode to Smart Mode and vice versa on the Smart Drinking Fountain?

Q5: What type of water can I put in the Smart Drinking Fountain?

A5: Tap water, pure water, cold boiled water are available . Do not use heat boiling water.

Q6: What does the Thermostatic component do?

A6: The thermostatic component allows you to heat the water in the Smart Drinking Fountain. You will need to insert the component in the upper/lower tray of EVERSWEET 2. This component cannot be used on EVERSWEET 1 as there is no slot for the heater. If you need this feature, we highly recommend EVERSWEET 2 Four Seasons.

Q7: What water do I put in the Smart Drinking Fountain?

A7: Tap water, pure water, cold water can be used and be given to your pet. Do not put boiling water into the water dispenser.

Q8: Wire Hazard due to pet bites

A8: What happens if my pet bites the wire of the device?

PETKIT Smart Drinking Fountain is an intelligent water dispenser and is designed with water and electrical wire separation. Once the dispenser is in place, all you need to do is remove the inner bucket for refilling and cleaning. If your pet has a biting/chewing habit, you can use a wire protector or tape to prevent your pet from biting/chewing on it. The water pump is designed to prevent dry burning. When the water level in the dispenser is too low, the pump will automatically stop working to prevent dry burning. The power adapter is DC 12V with low voltage output, so it's not life-threatening if your dog bites it!

Q9: How long does the water in the Smart Drinking Fountain lasts?

A9: Each pet's daily water intake is different, so the water refilling frequency will also be different. When the water is running low in the dispenser, the refill light will turn on so you'll know when to refill it.  

Q10: Blue light on the Smart Drinking Fountain

A10: What does it mean when the Blue light on the Smart Drinking Fountain is flashing? If the light of the water dispenser is blue, it means that the water dispenser is short of water. It's a reminder to add water in the dispenser. At the same time, the water pump will automatically stop working in case of water running low in the dispenser. So remember to refill the dispenser with water if you see Smart Drinking Fountain flashing in blue .

Q11: Change Water in the Smart Drinking Fountain

A11: How frequent should I change the water in the Smart Drinking Fountain? It is generally recommended to change the water once every 3-4 days. At the same time, clean the inner tube, filter sponge and tray when changing the water.

Q12: Using Filter for the first time

A12: What should I expect when I first use a filter on the Smart Drinking Fountain? When using the filter for the first time, there will be some raw material residue on the packaging. So you need to soak the filter in water for ten minutes before putting it into the water dispenser to use! It's normal to see small amount of black powder in the water due to the activated carbon residue. TIt's normal and you shouldn't worry about that!

Q13: Orange light on Smart Drinking Fountain

A13: What does it mean when the orange light on my Smart Drinking Fountain is lit? The Orange light is what we call the Filter light. If the Filter light is on, it means it's time to replace the filter. To turn off the orange light, long press the black reset button at the bottom of the water dispenser until the light goes out.

Q14: Filter Element Change

A14: How do I change the filter on my Smart Drinking Fountain? Turn off the power, remove the water storage tray and the old filter, soak the new filter for 2 minutes, place it on the tray and put it back in the water storage tray, plug in the power and press and hold the black reset button at the bottom for 5 seconds to use it normally.

Q15: Insect Problem

A15: Insect Problem. The filter comes with dry packaging and it's bug free fresh from the package. Please clean the water dispenser after 3-4 days and clean the inner tube and tray as well. In addition, it is better to do a use the product regularly to get rid of insects.

Q16: Mouthwash in the Smart Drinking Fountain

A16: Can I put mouthwash in the Smart Drinking Fountain? It is not recommended to put mouthwash in the water dispenser. It will affect the normal operation of the water dispenser and the service life of it . And the filter will filter out a lot of mouthwash ingredients.

Q17: Filter Replacement Frequency

A17: When should I replace the filter on my Smart Drinking Fountain?

Q18: Hair is not filtered

A18: Why is it that hair is not filtered? If the hair floats on top of the tray, it cannot be filtered into the inner tube below. If the hair is soaking on the water in the inner tube, it will pollute the water in the dispenser. Please remove hair manually.

Q20: Water Dispenser Noise

A20: 1. PETKIT intelligent water dispenser uses a DC 12V low voltage energy efficient water pump, which can effectively control the noise. However, the motor will still have minimal sound, which is a normal. 
2. Under normal use, the noise of the dispenser is within 40 decibels; in addition we found during the testing process that the location of the dispenser has a greater impact on the noise intensity. Some locations may cause resonance. It is recommended to try reducing the noise by changing the position or adding soft cushions. At night, it is recommended that the dispenser is switched to SMART mode.

Q21: Loose Motor

A21: What should I do if the motor is loose? Please remove the water and then wipe dry the black suction cup at the bottom of the motor. Also, wipe the inside of the inner container until it's dry. Re-fixed the motor to the inner tube, press it tightly, then add water.

A23: Why is there grease on the water dispense? The grease is there to allow the inner container to be removed easily.

A24: Why is the Smart Drinking Fountain dispensing very little water? This may be caused by dirty filter cotton which causes the water to be weak. Please take off the U-shaped sponge and clean it to normalize the water pump.

Q26: How does the Thermostatic component work?

A26: How does the Thermostatic component work? The heater working logic: It heats water through the heating plate. Generally speaking, the water temperature increments by 10 degrees and can reach a maximum temperature of 25 degrees. For example, if the current temperature is at 5 degrees, it will increase to 15 degrees but if the current temperature is already at 20 degrees, it can only increase to 25 degrees. The heater will automatically stop running if the water level is low. This function is called anti-dry burn.

Q27: Thermostatic components are not waterproof

A27: Is the Thermostatic component waterproof? The heater display is not waterproof. If a small amount of water gets to it, please wipe it dry immediately. The bottom of the heater with suction cups is water proof and can be placed in the water directly for a long and it won't rust.The heating principle is similar with home kettle. Boiling the water for a long time my cause little water to evaporate, but does not affect the quality of water

Q29: Second Generation Filter Element

A29: Second Generation Filter Element. The 1st generation filter can be used in the 2nd generation machine, but the filter will shake on the lower tray. However, there is still a tray on top, so there won't be any big impact. If you use the 2nd generation filter in the 1st generation machine, please replace the tray with what the 2nd generation machine uses.

Q31: Stain on the Heater Aluminum Plate

A31: How do I get rid of the stain on the heater aluminum plate? When the heater is heated at high temperatures, small amount of heavy metal elements such as calcium and magnesium ions contained in the water stays to the aluminum plate of the heater after a chemical reaction. You can use home vinegar or toothpaste to clean the aluminum plate.

Q41: Old version filter not compatible with new Smart Drinking Fountain

A41: Is the old version of filter compatible with the new Smart Drinking Fountain (Ceramic)? The ceramic water dispenser's water design eliminates the filter tray, the old filter shape is not compatible with this water fountain.  So the old filter cannot be used in the new ceramic water dispenser.

Q42: Smart Drinking Fountain (Ceramic) power cable improved design

A42: The Smart Drinking Fountain previous versions won't turn on after a power cable issue. Is this the same with the Ceramic version?

This problem has been addressed with the new version of Smart Drinking Fountain (W5 - Ceramic). The design has changed and the power cable is now integrated with the body to prevent problems like cable corrosion due to water.

Thus, he filter is highly recommended to be used in the drinking fountain. It works once every 6 hours, total of 4 times in 24 hours.

Q52: Smart Drinking Fountain (W4) DC Voltage

A52: Does the Smart Drinking Fountain power adapter converts AC to DC? 220V AC power is converted into the corresponding DC power for our devices through the adapter. The input voltage is converted into 5V DC through the adapter. This has been tested using DC tester so there is nothing to worry about. 

Q53: Smart Drinking Fountain (W2) DC Voltage

A53: Does the Smart Drinking Fountain power adapter converts AC to DC? 220V AC power is converted into the corresponding DC power for our devices through the adapter. The input voltage is converted into 12V DC through the adapter. This has been tested using DC tester so there is nothing to worry about. 

Q54: Why is there algae in the Smart Drinking Fountain?

A54: Water fountains should be cleaned regularly. Otherwise , algae may appear. Pets going outdoor may also bring in algae microorganisms. Algae can also be caused by tap water. When algae appears, it will be very difficult to remove them.  It is recommended to replace the filter and inner water container when this happens.

Q55: 3rd Generation Smart Drinking Fountain has no Adapter

A55: Why does the 3rd Generation Smart Drinking Fountain got no Adapter? In response to global environmental protection, PETKIT water fountains only provide 0H power cords. This power cord interface and all electronic equipment charger adapters are common 0H. Home wall USB jack can also directly use 0H. The 0H power cords are very common and very convenient.

If the filter light flashes on your EVERSWEET 3 water fountain, it means that adapter voltage is too high. Please replace it with a 5V adapter to stop the flashing filter light.

Q57: Oily inner tube of Smart Drinking Fountain

A57: Why is the inner tube of the Smart Drinking Fountain oily? When pets drink water, food residue, saliva and other substances mixes with the water. When these substances mix and dissolves with the water in the inner container, water can become condensed. The filter can help but it is also recommended to clean your device when this happens.

A58: Why did the power cable exploded?

This adapter failure can be caused by the surroundings and environment: moisture in the socket and unstable voltage may lead to this type of failure. Incidents like this needs thorough investigation. We need to get the customer's adapter for testing and understand how it is used before we can confirm the real cause.

Q59: 3-hole socket

A59: Two-hole sockets are mostly used for small power appliances while three-hole sockets are mostly used for high-powered appliances (with metal shell), which can prevent power leakage. The water dispenser is designed using the standard principle of water and electricity separation. So there will be no leakage, and the electric pen is measured by the Induced electricity.  Induced electricity is determined by the circuit board of the device, and it isn't the same as leakage.

A60: If you'd like to replace the adapter that comes with the device, you can purchase induction-free adaptor to eliminate induction (please note: use a 3-wire socket that meets national standards and ensure that the home installation socket itself is reliably earthed)

Q62: What is induction electricity?

A62: Electromagnetic waves travel through the air encountering conducting objects and generating induced electricity as a result. Induced electricity is present in all aspects of life, and exposure to it in everyday life is minimal and harmless to humans and living organisms.  The majority of pet water dispensers in the market have induction electricity, which is normal. Induction electricity is present in water dispensers from foreign and domestic products worldwide. 
We have done various tests and certifications in professional institutions for our water fountains and the test results meet the International, European and American certification standards. No leakage problems.

Q63: Which wire is for grounding?

A63: Find the wall socket at home, remove it from the wall, you can see the wire at the back, check if there are "3 wires" & "one yellow-green" wire (yellow-green wire means grounded)

Q64: Is Electric Pen reliable when measuring electricity?

A64: The household electric pen is very convenient to use, so it is widely used almost anywhere. the electric pen measures the charge, but can not distinguish between induction and real leakage.  The digital pen has a large deviation from the inductive voltage, so the measured values are not used as a basis for judging specific voltage values. Whether electricity is harmful to living organisms depends largely on the amount of current passing through them. Our actual measurements of induced electricity are well below electrical safety standards

Q65: Why are the electric pen values different?

A65: The electric pen is small and convenient, but because of the low price and relatively low accuracy, the test results are also inductive. As a result, the induction test does not have any reference to its specific value. The test is influenced by the humidity of the air, the dryness of the object in contact, etc. If you want to get the actual value, it is recommended to test it in a professional laboratory to be more accurate.

EVERSWEET 3 is designed in strict accordance with the standard of water and electricity separation. With normal use, no electrical loophole exists. Thus, there is no leakage of electricity.

Q67: Heater Temperature

A67: The current water temperature will be heated by 10 degrees up to 25 degrees. The current water temperature will be displayed even if it exceeds 25 degrees. The visual range is 0-50 degrees

Q68: No Induction when measured with a pen tester

A68: When you plug the three-hole non-inductive adapter into a three-hole outlet with an earthed wire, and measure the electricity with a pen, no value is expected to be shown.

Q69: More pet hair in the Smart Drinking Fountain

A69: Why is it that there's more floating hair on my Smart Drinking Fountain during a specific time of the year?

Cats and dogs hair grows thicker in the winter and sheds lesser hair during spring and summer. Thus, there is less floating hair during summer and spring time. You can simply remove the hair on a daily basis during this time of the year.

A71: What should I do if the Smart Drinking Fountain's water pump is not working?

Please take apart the water pump and clean out the debris inside.  

Wipe it with a paper towel and reassembled the parts again. 

Once the impeller is clean without any stuck debris, the pump will start working normally. 

Please turn the impeller and ensure it is also clean.

If that does not help, please check whether the connecting prongs of pump has broken from corrosion.

Q18: Why is the cat's weight measured incorrectly?

A18: Incorrect Weight Reading. If your cat is not fully inside the cylinder, or continues to move after entering it, the measured weight will be inaccurate.

Q19: How much cat litter can be added to reach the MAX line?

A19: If you use PETKIT Everclean Flushable Cat Litters, adding one pack of cat litter is enough to reach the MAX line. Because there are many gaps between the cat litter, the MAX line can sometimes be reached without adding a full pack, and you can stow the rest.

Q20: How often do I need to empty the waste container?

A20: Based on the results from a lab test at PETKIT, you only need to empty the waste container every 15 days (one cat).

Q21: How to get rid of odors effectively?

A21: 1.It is recommended to use automatic cleaning, timely cleaning cat litter to avoid smell. 

2. It is recommended to deodorize automatically 4-6 times a day. 

3. After adding cat litter twice, it is recommended to completely replace it once. 

4. Empty the waste container when it is full. 

5. Clean the cat litter filter or inner cylinder every week.

Q22: Is the infrared sensor in PURA X harmful to cats?

A22: PURA X Infrared Sensor. The wavelength of visible light for animals is between 380nm and 780nm, and the infrared wavelength of PUMA X is 950nm, which is completely harmless to cats and dogs, and both cats and dogs can not see, and will not sense.

Q25: ​Why is the percentage of remaining litter shown in the APP inaccurate?

A25: Cat Litter Percentage. Due to the different density of cat litter, the APP may show that the remaining cat litter is 100% if the cat litter reaches the standard weight, even if it does not reach the MAX line in the cylinder. Please refer to the actual capacity of different cat litter: 12.8 lbs clay cat litter, or 7 lbs tofu cat litter, or 7.9 lbs mixed cat litter. Please do not exceed the maximum weight of cat litter, otherwise clean litter will be filtered.

Q26: Why did the clumps fall into the gap during cleaning?

A26: If the cat litter is cleaned immediately without clumping, it will stick to the bottom and fall into the gap when the inner cylinder rotates. It is recommended to set the waiting time to 3-5 minutes in the APP.

Q27: ​I use tofu litter, but why does clean cat litter often get filtered out?

A27: Tofu Cat Litter. If you only use tofu cat litter, please add it to 85% or less. Because tofu litter is less fluid, adding too much litter can make clean litter easily filtered.

Q28: Where should PURA MAX be placed?

A28: Please make sure you place PURA MAX on a hard flat surface without carpet, the carpet would prevent internal weight sensors from properly detecting your cat. Place it at least 5 cm from the wall, and there is no object near the entrance.

Q29: ​Why has the bottom of the cylinder bulged up?

A29: Inner Barrel Bulges. Because the bottom is made of soft silica gel, it bulges in its natural form. After adding the cat litter it will be flat, so it does not affect proper operation.

Q30: Where should the cat litter pad be placed?

A30: Sand Control Pad Placement. Please place the cat litter pad in front of PUMA MAX. Please note that the pad should not be pressed under PUMA MAX as this will affect the weight sensor.

Q31: How to do if the remaining cat litter is not accurately measured?

A31: Please make sure you place PURA MAX on a hard flat surface without carpet, the carpet would prevent internal weight sensors from properly detecting your cat. Place it at least 5 cm from the wall, and there is no object near the entrance.If the problem is not solved, you can double click the OK button on PURA MAX.

Q32: ​How to guide my cat to use PURA MAX?

A32: Training your Cat with PUMA MAX. Put the PURA MAX in the same place as your previous litter box and use the same cat litter that your cat normally uses. A3: we don't suggest. (Kittens under 6 months old are not fully developed. In line with the principle of safety, it is not recommended that kittens under 6 months old use a drying box.)

Q4: What should I do if my cat refuse the Airsalon?

A4: You can put some pet toys inside. The pet will get used to it if there be a familiar smell. For cats, you can put some catnip also.

Q6: Why is Airsalon drying a bit slow?

A6: Drying time will be affected by the degree of drying, amount of pet hair, body size and ambient temperature.
It is recommended to wipe the entire body of your pet before drying; the drier you wipe it, the faster it will dry.
